Newsletter Pics!

Newsletters aren't any fun without pictures!

Here's some pictures of the kids from this fall.  Of course, we got snow this morning, so now we'll have to include pics from the sledding this morning!  :)

Busy Schedule! - Fall 2009 Newsletter

REACH

Where are we?
We are on our first “Home Assignment” (furlough) from our first term on the field of Papua New Guinea, now living in Maine.  We hope to go back to PNG the summer of 2010 to help get the gospel to the people of Papua New Guinea.  Aaron will again be involved in administration, and Stacy would love to be able to teach at some point when we return.

Busy Schedule!

We’ve had a tight speaking calendar over the last few months!  Here’s a sample of where we’ve been (mostly just Aaron):
Jul—Bolivia mission trip with Bedford Community Church, Bedford, New Hampshire
Aug—Eliot Baptist Church, Eliot, Maine
Aug—Oak Ridge Bible Church, Biddeford, Maine
Sep—Evangelism Seminar, Oak Ridge Bible Church
Sep—First Baptist Church of Kittery Point, Maine
Oct—Two Jr. High “Exiled” weekends, Lake Ann Camp, Michigan
Oct—Calvary Baptist Church, Kalkaska, Michigan
Oct—Trinity Baptist Church, Flushing, Michigan
Oct– Missions Conference at First Baptist Church of Waldoboro, Maine
Oct—Seacoast Christian School, South Berwick, Maine
Oct/Nov—Awana at First Baptist Church of North Berwick, Maine
Nov—Missions Conference at Patterson Park Church, Beavercreek, Ohio
Dec—First Baptist Church, North Berwick, Maine
I remember counting on October 21st that we had spoken 21 times in 21 days!  We’ve been preparing for speaking engagements, spending time with family, and keeping our own lives organized.  We have only a few dates coming up, so we’ll enjoy the Christmas season with our family.

Family Fun!

Our kids have had a blast in America!  They have been around to parks, beaches, playgrounds, fairs, farms, and many other places!  They’ve spent a lot of time with their cousins, made new friends, and enjoyed going to school at Seacoast Christian School (South Berwick, Maine).  I think the kids will look back at our time in America with some fond memories of all the cool things they got to do.  Hopefully, those memories will get them through living inside a fence for the next four years!  Check the next post for some pictures of the kids and how much fun they’ve been having.  Must be a hard life trying to decide what fun thing to do next!

Tobo Update!
From time to time, we’ve included an update on the Tobo tribe in PNG that we’ve been able to visit.  We have good friends that minister there, Jason and Nisae Williamson.  They are now home for their furlough, and, of course, are super excited to be home in America.  We can relate!  Their partners, the Knapps are headed back to the States as well, so their other partners, the Mankins, are there on their own.  Please pray that the Tobo work will do well in spite of most of the missionary tribal team not in there right now.

Coming Up!
We are looking forward to going out to Michigan after Christmas and spending time with Aaron’s side of the family.  Stacy and the girls will get a chance to meet 6 new nieces and nephews and renew acquaintances with another 5 that they haven’t seen in 4 years.  (I’m sure the 3 of them would love 2 be able to meet each 1! J)
After our time there, we are going to take a 3,500 mile road trip from Michigan to Florida.  There’s no better time than in January!  We’ll be visiting friends, family, birth families, and our New Tribes Mission headquarters.  We’ll be hitting Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, and West Virginia.  We hope to see many of you during the rest of our time here stateside!

Housing Needed!
We hope to spend some time in Dayton, Ohio and in Flint, Michigan with our supporting churches between February and June.  We are quite willing to house-sit or occupy a home that someone is trying to sell.  If you have any ideas, please email and let us know!

Prayer and Praise!
·         We praise God for His goodness in providing for our needs and pray that He will continue to provide—knowing that He will, and always has!
·         Stacy has been seeing doctors about her migraines—she just saw a new one last week in order to get some more immediate answers.  Please pray that she can have them less frequently!
·         Our own walk with God is so important as we try to be a good husband, wife, and parents.  We know we have the Spirit of God in us as believers, and He will provide the help we need!
·         We are still praying for housing for Michigan and Ohio!  We would love to spend some time with our friends and family in those two states!  Please pray that we can find a place to stay that is furnished and ready for us to move in!
·         Starting in January, we will be homeschooling our kids as we travel around.  Although Stacy is a teacher, we’ve never tried doing homeschooling!   Please pray that we can do a good job so our kids can step right back into a classroom when we hit PNG.

Have a place we can stay?

It has been a blessing to have a place to stay here in Maine in an apartment under Stacy’s parents house.  It’s available for our whole furlough, if we need it.  However, we would love to spend time with other supporting churches in the Beavercreek, Ohio and Flushing, Michigan areas.   Our plan is to spend January to March in Michigan, and April to June in Ohio.

Because our plan is to stay for 3 months in each location, we would need a place that is already furnished and ready for someone to live there.  If anyone knows of housing available for missionaries on furlough, please let us know!

What an amazing God!

Dear family and friends,

Thank you for praying for Aaron’s trip to Bolivia and our financial needs.  We have some good news to report!

God has provided $7,800 for our needs – including a nice 2000 Chrysler minivan.  He has supplied our needs yet again, and used many of you to do it.  Thank you for being used of God in this way!

Recently, Aaron has been able to share at Eliot Baptist Church and Oak Ridge Bible Church and told the story about how God has supplied for our needs for the past 9 years as missionaries.  What an incredible testimony – not about what we have done, but about what GOD has done for us.  What an amazing God!

Kaili had surgery for her umbilical hernia last week.  It went well and fast, and she’s recovering nicely.   Thank you all for praying!

Aaron’s trip to Bolivia went very well, and he arrived back home safely.  He accompanied some incredible folks from Bedford Community Church in Manchester, NH.  The team was able to do some small maintenance projects and other things to help out the orphanages down there, as well spending time with the kids and do a little sight-seeing.  Here’s the Bolivia team below:
We have some opportunities to speak coming up in the next few months:
September, Oak Ridge Bible Church, Maine
October, Lake Ann Camp, Michigan
October, Calvary Baptist Church, Michigan
November, Patterson Park Church Missions Conference, Ohio
We are planning to spend Jan-March in Michigan, and April-June in Ohio.  If you would like to schedule us, please let us know.  We would love to come and tell you everything that God has been doing in our lives.

Praise:
  • Time with family and friends so far this summer
  •  The kids are adjusting to American culture!
Prayer:
  • Our daily walk with God!
  • We had an accident with our van a week or so after getting it!  Everyone was OK, and just a fender bender.  But, it cost $1,785 to fix.
  • Stacy’s migraines are better than while in PNG, but please pray that we can get something solved while we are home on furlough.
  • Our continuing financial need.  God has supplied our needs for 9 years now, He is a BIG GOD and He’ll keep providing for us.

    Thank you!

    Our crazy kids!

    Please pray with us

    Dear friends and family,
Many of you have asked where we are at with a vehicle for furlough, so we thought we’d send out another update to let you know how you can be praying!
We are definitely in need regarding our finances and have been convicted of the necessity of sharing that with you.  Between the cost of plane tickets home, settling in (food, clothing, etc), and Stacy’s medical bills already, we have yet to be able to afford to purchase a vehicle for our year home.  We have looked at several possibilities and have one we would buy today if we had the money, so it’s just a matter of the Lord’s timing and provision.  A huge praise to share is that one of our supporting churches just gave us a $2000 gift towards the purchase of a minivan, so we’re almost halfway there!
Here are the financial needs we are currently facing:
    • Outstanding medical bill - $1,670
    • Current medical expenses (estimated) - $800
    • Remaining costs from furlough plane tickets - $2,030
    • Minivan - $3,200
    • Glasses for Aaron - $415

Plus, Aaron has the unique privilege of accompanying a church on a 10-day missions trip in the middle of July to minister in an orphanage in Bolivia.  We felt it was a great opportunity to worship God in a whole new way and gain some missionary experience outside of Papua New Guinea.  Although the international tickets have already been provided, there’s still several hundred dollars that need to be raised for this trip (Aaron agreed to go several months ago).
We are resting in our Father and know that He will provide for each of these needs, and in His time, as He always has!  We cannot thank each of you enough for your involvement in our ministry!  The Lord has chosen to use all of us in the Body of Christ to fulfill His Mission and it is such an AMAZING privilege!  THANK YOU for your prayers and financial sacrifices on our behalf!  They do not go unnoticed!
    In His Love,
    Aaron and Stacy
